For many people, ringing in a new year means change. Hope for good things to happen, new goals to set, even lifestyle changes are results of resolutions made for the new year. For businesses, setting sights on new accomplishments, developments, or financial goals are staples of early January meetings. But for all the change that happens, a coworking space usually tries to maintain a modicum of consistency. Even when a change is happening, like an expansion, or introducing faster internet, or a new amenity, the goal is to perform the change as smoothly as possible so all members don’t have to deal with yet another change.

A coworking space, as a workplace should be, is an anchor. Designed on the premise of flexibility and breathing room, the spaces need to strike the balance between innovation and continuity. After all, even people who work to change the world like to enjoy some familiarity where they can, and that’s often reflected in their work habits -- location included.

That being said, a revolutionary change, or even a small change to make things better or easier, is noticed appreciated. Technology exists, and continues to evolve, with the purpose of making our lives and our work easier, our experiences better, and even our health more robust. Coworking spaces are an example of technology, just not in the sense of Science or electronics. But they are an example of relatively simple yet unique technology regarding evolving social norms and how they translate into a successful workplace.
